One of the most ancient forms of entertainment is
drama.
To this day we
enjoy plays and drama; difference is that the form has changed but the format
has not. Personally, I like to read drama from time to time, though I must
admit that I am still a noob in this sector of literature. To be honest, I have
never been to a live play or jatra before but I have had glimpses of them on
the television and they seemed quite fun. Here, I should add that I have been
to school dramas.
I have not read many plays. But the few I read for
school are quite pleasant. I learnt not only the messages they convey but also
other aspects like the intricate pattern and delightful diction of the
dialogue. Unlike fiction, drama is a lot better thought out because they are
heavily dependent on dialogues to create a certain mood. They surroundings are
to created artificially or act out where in fiction only words are used to
describe a situation. Also, the dialogues are to be written so that the
audience understand them clearly, they do not become monotonous and also they
dispense some sort of art in them. I believe these are the reasons drama was
once so popular and still is (via movies and serials). Anyways, I believe plays
and drama should be more widely advertised and encouraged so that people may
actually get the chance to appreciate them and what they have contributed to
the modern entertainment.
