Essay Sample: How Bogra is different from Dhaka

Dhaka landscape

Bogra and Dhaka cities are similar when it comes to high population density and living standards but they quite dissimilar in other ways. People who live in two cities have the same traditional cultures. Although there are several similarities between Bogra city and Dhaka city, there are many obvious differences between them as well.

First, the climate in Dhaka city is different from climate in Bogra city. This point proves that the climate of Bogra is very cold from October to December, warm from July to September and cool around year. In contrast, the climate of Dhaka is very intensely hot in the dry season but cooler during winter, though not as cold as Bogra. In fact, Dhaka does not seem to have winter at all, due to all the warmth still felt during the season. For instance, when you stay at Bogra, you feel the weather that changes follow the four seasons annually, whereas, the climate of Dhaka remains almost the same throughout the year. You barely feel cold during winter. It also gets less rainfall during summer or monsoon. Compared to Bogra, Dhaka is quite humid, dry and barren.

In addition, there is a great disparity in the sceneries of Bogra and Dhaka. Even though both the cities are built on plain lands, Bogra has more forest area than Dhaka. It is a lot greener and fresher in Bogra than in Dhaka. The air is fresher there unlike the stale atmosphere of Dhaka. Furthermore, it is less crowded with people. There is a lot less pollution and traffic in the city of Bogra than in Dhaka. Places are easily accessible and almost everything is within reach in Bogra unlike Dhaka. A beautiful serpentine river called the Korotoa slides across Bogra in contrast to the Buriganga of Dhaka. Although the Korotoa is a famous touring spot of Bogra, it is quite sad to say that we are polluting it beyond measure and it is on its way to get destroyed like the Buriganga.

Finally, the most obvious difference between the two cities is activities in the daily life. Even though Bogra is an apple to the eyes, compared to Dhaka, the people of Bogra are more easy-going and have a laid back attitude, whereas, the citizens of Dhaka are more active and to some extent, animated in their daily routine. Vehicles are always lively in the roads and people activities are always enthusiastic and busy in the factories. To illustrate, during winter in Bogra, all social activities seem less than when it rains to last from this day to other day even one week so all people feel lazy to do something enthusiastically in the cold weather. Unlike Bogra, however, Dhaka activities take place normally during winter. Dhaka is always buzzing with life and activity all through the year unlike its counterpart, Bogra.

In conclusion, both Bogra and Dhaka cities, which have a fast developing economy and high living standards, are prized possessions of our beloved country, Bangladesh. Moreover, both these cities are beautiful and unique in their own ways. They both have appreciable landscape, unique climatic differences and both possess a different daily routine. But at the end of the day, both cities are a bunch of pleasurable experience.
