6 Super Fruits Mentioned In the Quran With Amazing Benefits

NOTE: I wrote this piece back when I was still a Muslim. I have, since then, left my religion and do not agree to most or all of what is written here. However, these posts are very much part of my life and helps understand the changes I went through. That's why, I am against deleting them.

The Quran is the most important and precious Book for any Muslim out there and all of us Muslims consider Quran to be not only a Book of Guidance for Muslims, the followers of Islam, but also a Book of the Way of Life for whole of mankind. The Quran talks about a lot of necessary things that are beneficial to human beings. It teaches us how to live our life the proper way and also what to do and what to avoid. It also talks about the right kind of foods that we should eat.

It is mentioned in the Quran:
And it is He who sends down water from the sky. With it We produce vegetation of all kinds, from which We bring greenery, from which We produce grains in clusters. And palm-trees with hanging clusters, and vineyards, and olives, and pomegranates—similar and dissimilar. Watch their fruits as they grow and ripen. Surely in this are signs for people who believe. [Surah Al-Anam: 99]

Today, I’m going to make a list of the Fruits mentioned in the Quran and also include what their benefits are. If you include these superfoods in your daily diet, you are bound to notice some positive results.

Grapes

Would anyone of you like to have a garden of palms and vines, under which rivers flow—with all kinds of fruit in it for him, and old age has stricken him, and he has weak children—then a tornado with fire batters it, and it burns down? Thus Allah makes clear the signs for you, so that you may reflect. [Surah Baqarah: 266]

Grapes are not only juicy and delicious but also full of health benefits. They are packed with minerals, vitamins and other nutrients. Consumption of grapes also reduces the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other illness. The high Polyphenol content of grapes are responsible in keeping the heart healthy and reduce risk of cancer. High potassium in grapes also help protect against loss of muscle mass, preservation of bone mineral density and reduction in the formation of kidney stones.

Dates

It is He who produces gardens, both cultivated and wild, and date-palms, and crops of diverse tastes, and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of its fruit when it yields, and give its due on the day of its harvest, and do not waste. He does not love the wasteful. [Surah Al-Anam: 141]

Dates are the perfect source of vitamins, minerals and a lot of other nutrients; not to mention, it’s a sweet fruit and can be used as natural sweeteners. If you are trying to lose weight but have a sweet tooth, a handful of dates to munch on is perfect for you to keep your daily sugar intake normal.  They also contain vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, vitamin A and vitamin K. They strengthen bones, treat anemia and intestinal disorders. Olives play a great role in eliminating excess cholesterol from the body and control blood pressure. They help prevent anemia and are full of oxidants which are help the body flush out toxins and also gives a healthy glow to the skin.

Pomegranates

In them are fruits, and date-palms, and pomegranates. [Surah Ar-Rahman: 68]

I know, peeling pomegranates can be a challenge for lazy people like me but once you get over that hard part and munch on these little fruits, you will notice tremendous difference in your health in a positive way. Pomegranates contain two unique compounds which are basically responsible for most of their health benefits: Punicic Acid and Punicalagins. These fruits are full of anti-oxidants and has impressive anti-inflammatory effects. They help lower blood pressure and fights against prostrate and breast cancer.

Figs

I have not tasted Figs myself but I have heard about them a lot. And since it’s mentioned in the Quran, it’s bound to be beneficial for the mankind, right? Figs prevent constipation and promote weight-loss. They also lower cholesterol and prevent coronary heart diseases.

Bananas

And sweet-smelling plants (banana). [Surah Al-Waqiah: 29]

Do I even have to mention their health benefits? These fruits are full of potassium and is a couple of them should be enough to become your breakfast. Eating them in moderation will help you with keeping your weight in check and at the same time, fulfill your craving for sweet things. Bananas contain nutrients that moderate blood sugar levels. Unripe bananas help improve insulin sensitivity.
