Top 5 Point-and-Click Mystery Games you should play right now

I am an avid fan of mouse-pointer games, especially if they belong to the Mystery genre. After hours of skimming through the internet I came up with these little gems, that too, for absolutely free. Mind you though, these games are beginner’s level games where you barely have to read a walkthrough. You can figure out how the game progresses yourself. So, let’s get into it. Simply click on the game names to get the download links.

  • 1.      Vampire Saga series

This is my most favorite starter mystery game ever. The story, as the name suggests is about vampire. The first game in the series Pandora’s Box (2009) is followed by two sequels: Welcome to Hell Lock (2011) and Break Out (2012). The games offer Hidden Objects scenes, where you need to collect various item that will help you progress in the story. It also has a good number of cut scenes giving it a cinematic and sophisticated feel. The setting and premise of the story give the player the perfect creepy chills. This is the perfect game for a chilly Halloween night.

  • 2.      The Island Castaway series

If you like Mystery games but do not like the Hidden Objects part, or you want to play a game just for it mystery and not horror vibes, then, this is the perfect game for you. Both the game feature the same game-play, where you need to control the main character with mouse clicks. It does not have the Hidden Objects parts, which can be annoying for some people. In this game, interacting with the supporting characters is one of the main key points of the game to progress the story-line. Not to mention, the graphics is quite clean and crisp and refreshing.

  • 3.      Namariel Legends: Iron Lord

I didn’t know I needed a Mystery game in a Steampunk Fantasy setting until I played this game. Featuring gorgeous locations, interesting puzzles and a cool storyline, this game took my breath away. The story is, however, a typical Chosen One fantasy story where the main character is prophesized to dethrone the villain Iron Lord. But the way it is told is, especially because it is in the game format, gives it its justified glory.

  • 4.      Snark Busters series

Another Fantasy game with a Sci-Fi Steampunk setting with quirky and amusing graphics giving it a comic book feel. This is another Hidden Objects game, but instead of taking the player to a separate location, the objects are hidden right on the main screen. The premise of the story is about a secret club called Snark Busters whose main aim is to capture the elusive and magical creature called Snark – a creature so good at hiding that no one ever saw it but apparently many people know about it. This game is a perfect blend of graphics, comical music and baffling story-line which is sure to keep the players hooked on to it till the end.

  • 5.      Dark Angels: Masquerade of Shadows

This is an exclusively Hidden Objects game set in an Urban Fantasy setting. Even though the game-play is almost similar to other Hidden Objects games, what stood out to me are the graphics, the story-line and little mini-games side by side with the finding hidden objects part. The magic system of the story is a mix of witchcraft and shamanism. The setting along with befitting music creates the perfect environment for a truly mysterious experience.
